Chinchilla problem.!?

I have had my chinchilla for about three months now and he just recently started biting people. I will take him out to clean out his cage and when I go to put him back in, he bites. hard too. He bites everyone that holds him, he just started like three weeks ago. I went to Pets Mart and bought the chew sticks for him to see if that would keep him from biting people and it doesnt. Please help!

How often do you get your little guy out for a run? My boy was pretty cocky as a youngster so yours might just be going through some teenage attitude.
Does he feel safe? He may be very scared of you and you dont even know it. Chinchilla's are very picky animals. It took a long time for my boy to learn how to trust me and its very hard to keep their trust. Chinchillas do not like to be handled or held a lot. A scratch behind the ear of under the chin is usually what my boy will put up with.
Also, your little guy might just not be getting enough excercise. How big is his cage? Is he getting lots of quiet time to sleep during the day? Is he annoyed by people?
I suggest you buy a book on chinchilla's or type in chinchilla care in g oogle and you'll get lots of info. Also, learn about what the different body language and noises that chinchillas do to get their point across. Your chin might be feeling threaten by you when you dont even mean to scare him so he feels he needs to defend himself.
maybe, he is in pain. take him to the vet and see what they say. ask for some exrays.
meaby someone that held him hurt him and hes affraid. he might be in pain tho too, talk to the vet
i rally dont know maybe take him or her to the vet
he might have cavities, make sure that he is not a she because that might be a sign or pregnate pets, hiding something, too hungry, or is selfish and hates it when people take him out or "his" cage, or maybe he hates being touched but since he never done this before i think you should bring him to the vet but bring him to the vet while he is in the cage, oh yeah and one more thing if you have no time to go to the vet you can call the vet and if you don't know the vet's numer then dial 411 and ask them for local vet and they will tell you the number, 411 is a phone number you call when you don't know someone elses phone number.
