Can you help me figure out how to cure my ferret?

It began 3 wks ago. I found her very sick in the bottom of her cage, drooling, convulsions and fever. The vet took x-ray, nothing suspicious and gave her a shot of Baytril that instantly cured her and prescribed amoxicillan twice a day. 2 wks later I found her flat again with the same symptoms and the vet gave a shot of Baytril which took a little time to work and prescribed one per day for 3 days then 1 every other day. The first day that was skipped she was fine but as it left her system she got sick again. The vet checked insulin levels, nothing suspicious, gave a shot of Baytril and something for insulin just in case. Not better that evening so vet gave heart strengthening pills. The convulsions intensified and she began screaming from the pain. After 1 hour the convulsions died down but she still couldn't move. Now she is breathing short, hard breaths. She had a dose of Baytril this morning which did nothing. What should I do?
Answers:
common differentials to talk to the vet about besides the insulin and heart problems he has already tried to rule out are: adrenal disease (adrenal crisis- lack of hormones), canine distemper, rabies (uncommon but can occur with seizures and foaming at mouth), and parasites have your vet check his stool (feces) for parasite ova or larvae. Good luck

Ps- since you mentioned the cat litter box, have the vet check for toxoplasmosis (cats can harbor the organism it is shed in feces)
Could be two things.. Insulin shock is one.. the other is full on adneral disease.

How old is your ferret? Showing any sign of hair loss? Pawing at the mouth? Excessive water intake?

hair loss around the tail %26 swelling in the belly would be adneral tumors. Surgery is an option, but it only buys them time.

Insuloma, is very hard to treat. The animals usually suffer seizures %26 the vet bills are HUGE. They paw at the mouth since they feel like they are choking %26 dehydrated. They drink water to try to regulate blood sugar levels.

I would highly recommend x-rays to see the adrenals.. and another blood test to check insulin levels.

Good Luck
