Answers:
My son says its probably a very large garden spider.
PS This only applies in the UK, you don't say where you are. If you make contact at the spider site below they may be able to help you.
Search the web site for the "Desert Recluse" spider. They come in different colors. Extremely poisonous.
OMFG! i've seent tht exact same one b 4!
i'd also like to know wht kind of spider it is.
it could be the black widow which is very poisonous

Try your luck on www.whatsthatbug.com. I enjoy looking at the creatures on this page.
golden orb
it sounds like a deer spider we have down her in alabama,
You did not say where you lived, but if you are in North America, rest assured we have NO dangerous spiders which fit that description! NO "Recluse" spiders, desert or otherwise, have orange on them anywhere, nor do they have striped legs! Most likely, if your spider is on an aerial web suspended between two objects, it's an Argiope of some sort, probably a Golden Ariope(Argiope aurantia), and it's harmless to humans. You can look up pictures of various spiders on the link below and compare them to your spider, and if you have a digital camera, you can sign up and post pictures for experts to identify, as many entymology and arachnology professors volunteer their time on this site.
