Can you help my poor bunny??

Like 5 minutes ago me and my bunny were playing and underneath his chin I felt something odd there. So I lay him on my lap and look at he has a scab about the size of a quater. From the looks of it the scab has been there for a long time. But it is still attached to the skin alot and Im afriad that this scab could get infected. I asked my mom if we could take him to the vet but she said we'll wait and see if it gets better if not then we'll take him. Is there any thing I can do to help him if he is in any pain??
Answers:
Wash the scab very carefully. Chances are that it is more dried blood on the fur than a scab. It could be just a little spot. Once all clean then apply (with a cotton ball or tissue) a little listerine (or what you use for mouthwash) to disinfect. Your bunny will be just fine as it is acting ok. Just keep an eye on its stool and movements. It probably just scratched or caught itself on something. If it gets worse then call a vet. Do NOT give it human stuff like an aspirin or anything. Just some tender bunny TLC. If this is an outdoor bunny I can almost assure the that cleaning and taking care of it will do the trick. My advice.that and looootttttts of bunny love and a careful, watchful eye. Now go get "Hopping" and take care of him.
i have a bunny and the best thing to do is call the vet really becuase if the bunny wasnt like sitting there like it is in pain then then it doesnt really hurt much just dont place it in dirty spots like floor for now

CALL THE VET!

ps my bunny's name is Bunny!
you should go on the search and search on bunnys and select injery help on face. you might find some good info
the best thing i could recommend to do is perhaps call a vet.sometimes if u tell them ur problem, they will give u advice on how to keep ur pet comfortable until u can afford to take them to the vet.good luck and i hope ur bunny gets better!!
You should just try to forget about it. It probobly will get better. I have rechearched bunnys for 4 years now. If it does not get any better in like three days it might be a problem. If he still has it you should take him to the vet like the next day. It shouldn't hurt him to wait for a few days.
Ps my name is Molly
IF YOUR BUNNY IS STIL EATING AND DRINKING HE IS NOT IN PAIN ARE YOU SURE ITS NOT JUST A CLUMP OF FURR THATS KNOTTED TOGEATHER,LIKE OFTEN HAPPENS TO CATS AND DOGS WITH LONG HAIR,IF IT IS YOU CAN CUT IT AWAY CAREFULLY WITH SISSORS,JUST DONT GET TO CLOSE TO THE SKIN,IF ITS A SCAB AS LONG AS ITS KEEPED DRY IT IS UNLIKELY TO BECOME INFECTED,I THINK YOUR BUNNY WILL BE FINE AND AS YOUR MUM HAS SAID IF IT GETS WORSE THEN A TRIP TO THE VET MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA,BUT MAYBE MUM CANT AFFORD THE VETS,THAY ARE QUITE EXPENSIVE,IF THIS IS THE CASE TRY ASKING THE RSPCA TO HELP OR LOOK UP YOUR NEAREST RABBIT CLUB OR BREEDER USALLY THEY CAN HELP YOU,GOOD LUCK
If it already a scab then leave it alone to fall off on it's own. If the skin around it looked red and swollen and/or the wound was not scabbed over and was oozing, then it would be a problem. You could put some antibacterial ointment on it if that would make YOU feel better. Just a light coating of ointment, though, it's not good if the bunny eats it because it has petroleum jelly base that would give him diarrhea. It will take a very long time for the scab to fall off because it is dried into his fur.
It would be difficult for anyone online to give a diagnosis on a rabbit. However I'd suggest giving the rabbit mineral water for a week. If the rabbit is in a cage, maybe you can put wet paper towels on the bed of the cage. If you are in a dry atmosphere, this can effect the head region of many animals.
A sore on the rabbit's jaw can be an indication of a serious problem. Rabbit's teeth continue to grow and need to be trimmed from time to time, if they don't get enough things to chew on that are able to grind down their teeth. Sometimes they develop abscessed teeth and the abscess will actually erupt through the jawline, rather than in the mouth. It would probably be best to have a vet check your rabbit. An abscessed tooth could lead to your bunny stopping eating and starving to death.
I would say, leave it alone, if you haven't noticed it yet, chances are the he hasn't either. Don't touch it or you may irritate it and then he might start scratching at it.
If he shows no other signs of ill health and the scab is dry (no pus or weeping), then he should be fine. If it does show any signs of getting worse or your bunny starts to show any other signs of not being well (ie, he is not behaving as he normally does) then take him to the vet but otherwise I wouldn't worry. A scab is the body's natural way of helping a wound to heal (the same as in humans) so left on it's own it should be fine. If you want to treat it, perhaps wash the area with a solution of 1 teaspoon of salt diluted in 1 cup of warm water.
If its a scab is likely healing well. You can put honey on it. Honey is a natural antiseptic and if they eat it they will be ok. http;//www.rabbit.org
