Do chickens eat eggs ??

Yes they do and I have seen this with my own eyes. Some people that keep chickens often have to clip their pecks with nail clippers to stop them from doing this. I know it sounds cruel but if they do get in the habbit of eating the eggs it has to be done, and no, it doesn't hurt them, they just look a bit silly for a while.

You can get "hen goggles" and i am not joking, which will stop them doing it because they can't see properly.

Yes, but not just because they like to peck at stuff. They eat their own eggs because they don't have enough calcium. You need to buy oyster shell calcium from the feed store. Once chickens start to eat their own eggs its very hard to stop them. You won't collect very many eggs when they start to break them open. Also if they don't have adequate water supply they will break open their eggs to drink.

Yes.i used to have chickens and when they would lay an egg they would eat it soon after laying it.

My experience is that they do not eat the eggs unless the egg is cracked. In the event that the egg is cracked they go crazy over it like its their last meal.

Yes! Chickens will eat their eggs. I know this because i have over 20 chickens and if i drop an egg, they all gather around it and eat it! They will also eat scrambled eggs and will try to eat anything that moves at least once! Hope this helps.

I've heard of people feeding chickens eggs and even KFC. That particular chicken is not doing so well right now, so I wouldn't take that route.
