Did you know your veterinarian sells dead pets to be made into dog food and animal glue?

Answers:
wow. that's taking recycling to a new level.
wouldn't doubt it. gotta get rid of fido somehow.
Doesn't actually sell it for that. The vet disposes of it (quite a natural thing to do) to a company who then probably sells it to make pet food. I mean what do you expect? The vet to have a funeral for all??
Yeah right, and I sell my old boots so you can have steak tonight.
Where did you ever get this information from? Someone misinformed you. Also, so you know, horse hooves are what glue is made of.
My vet does not, and I work there so I think I would know. Actually, if the pet is euthanized, the narcotics used to put the pet to sleep should not be consumed by other animals. It can cause death in animals eating it.
I guess you are one of those propaganda people. Good luck with that.
that explains it !!
This is NOT true. I have worked for two veterinarians. Dead pets not claimed by the owner are incinerated, and the ashes are disposed of in the garbage by one vet. Another scatters them in his pasture. Either way, bodies or cremains are not sold for any purpose.
I don't know where you're getting that information from..totally erroneous!
Veterinarians dispose of the dead animals as to the owner's wishes and request. Some people want to pick up the animal's body and bury it themselves. Others have a pet cemetery pick up the animal's remains, where they are taken to the cemetery and buried. Others choose to have their animals cremated and take the ashes home with them. No pets are made into dog food, any food or glue in the USA.
What in the HECK are you talking about?

Animal rendering is a process used for the remains of things like cows and horses that the owners SELL to the plants, rather then paying for them to be buried, etc.

None of your links suggest that this is common for vets to do (unless one of your Google hits mentions it- I did not bother to check all of the hits out. if one of them supported your claim, you should have linked to IT.)

Animal glues have been around forever, and are usually made from the parts of the animals that cannot be used for other things. It is actually a great form of recycling.

Gluing teabags? Mine are hot-sealed and stapled- where do you buy yours from? Animal glues are not usually used in any food industry. although weird animal parts show up in weird places- shiny surfaces on foods is sometimes made from the shells of certain beetles that are used in laquer.

This has 'urban legend' or even 'fear mongering' written all over it.
no we don't know, all we know is you should stop spreading these foolish lies.another crazy person in the house.
You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. Vets have contracts with animal crematories to dispose of dead pets. All that happens to them is they are made into ash. I suppose there could be some sicko somewhere making other products out of dead pets..but that would be the exception, not the rule. And anyone who believes a company would get away with using dead pets in dog food needs to have their head examined!! PS.if a pet is euthanized, using it for dog food would kill the dogs that eat it!
Yeah Yeah Yeah..I get the PETA newsletter too, I don't believe half the stuff they say. You really have to research this stuff for yourself. *cough* by not using the internet. I am thinking of becoming a Veterinarian, and I love animals a lot. I can guarantee you that over 90percent of veterinarians become specialists in an animal field because they love animals and want to care for the sick and wounded. by the way tea is blended plants.not animals
Dog food is usally made up of rendering animals from farms etc. First it starts from a pig farm the ones that die are laid out in a concrete barrier wall then left there until the render truck comes and pick up carcuss that have been placed there nearly weeks with magots and other pest. then brought to the plant where it is boiled at a certain temp around 220 degress then they seperate the solids and liquids. When the dog food says 100% beef or pork it is only usally 3% which is what the USDA allows to be claimed. And then the 3% is parts that would not be allowed for humane consumption that is why we dont feed dog food. ever notice why some dogs eat grass because its a natural way for them to cleans there system. I would never trust the USDA I dont blame china from eating beef and pork for us there is just to many harmone drugs and the USDA lies so much its unreal. My cousin works for them and hes ashame of them but he does it for the money. I call him a sellout joking.
wow something new to me
Wow. You must have been really bored.
so they use cremated ashes to make glue and dog food.
You are sick!
Yuck
