I think it perhaps was because of the death of Steve Irwin. People are seeking revenge on the rays. It's a shame, the death of the type of animal that accidentally killed him will not bring him back.
They are not Steve Erwin fans. I do not believe he would approve of such a cruel act. He knew what he was getting into when he got into that profession. I don't know why everyone is shocked. And yes I loved his show.

Yes, I think some people could be taking their sadness and anger over his death out on the sting rays. Sometimes people do wrong things out of grief, because they dont know what else to do.
It would be a sad thing if his fans did that because Steve Irwin was one of the most notable animal rights and animal preseveration spokesman. He knew the risks he took every time he got close to a wild animal and never wanted any thing bad to happen to the animals, even when they drew blood. I believe his passing was a tragedy to the future of wildlife, because he fought
so hard to educate people and preserve it.
Ironically, it was an animal that isn't aggressive, who killed Steve Irwin, an animal that only has a DEFENSE mechanism, the stinger, and that mechanism is not used for any thing else. I feel the sting rays will carry a bad rep for a long while.. Its sad.
I know Steve would be a little pissed off right now it he knew thats what was happening to the Sting rays.
Whoever is doing this is either looking for attention, or really think stingrays are harmful (which they are, only if they are threatened).
If Steve Irwin taught this world anything, it's that we should be compassionate to every animal. Including stingrays.he would NOT have wanted this!

Yeah it's because of that and I think that everyone should stop mistreating animals like that just because he died. Steven Irwin would be devistated if he could see what people are doing to them and may I remind everyone that it was A FREAK ACCIDENT!!.
