CRICKETS to control spiders?

Is is a good idea to put crickets in your basement to eat spiders? We live in an area where there are lots of poisnious spiders and even w/ exterminations, I still see lots of spiders in the basement and yard.
Is there a down side to letting a few crickets go in the yard and basement? Do they need water or anything else and how many should I place in the basement??
Answers:
You will be feeding the spiders. The spiders will eat the crickets.
Crickets eat vegetable matter

So, what eats spiders?
other spiders
wasps
ants
praying mantis
birds
small reptiles
amphibians
small mammals especially shrews

But I don't think you'd want any of those critters in you basement either
I wouldn't put crickets down there because spiders eat crickets so you're just screwing yourself over if you do that because that will attract more spiders than you already have.
Cats and dogs will actually eat spiders, but I don't recommend getting a pet just for the purpose of dealing with arachnids. Try sprinkling boric acid around the infested areas. It's a known bug repellant.
