i have 2 guianea pigs, 1 has just died, and i want to get a rabbit, can i put it with the other guinea-pig?
Answers:
No! Whatever ANYONE says/does/tells you, rabbits and guinea pigs can NOT be housed together.
Even if they seem to be getting along fine, there can be serious problems:
-If one or the other gets scared, they could harm/kill the other one
-Different viruses/bacteria/fungi/infecti. which could be found in either the guinea pig or the rabbit might not cause harm to THAT species, but can be transmitted to the other one, and cause death or serious illness
-Their nutritional needs are not the same, and it's hard to keep one from eating the other's food. how do you know who's eating what?
-If you find blood in the cage, or watery stool, or worms, or anything else meaning that something is wrong, how will you know which one it came from?
This site outlines (in detail) MANY more reasons why the two should absolutely NOT be paired with each other. It might seem like a good idea, but it's really not.

Thanks for asking before actually doing it, you have just saved two lives. If you need any help with the bunny (or information), feel free to email olliechinch@yahoo.com
Check at the pet shop but i'm sure its ok. my sister keeps a rabbit and guinea pig together and they're the best of mates!
Yes, when I went to a pet shop they hve them together all the time
ya you can, just dont let them get mean at each other. they need lots of space to themselves so they can separate from each other every once in a while
Thats a big no i'm afraid it used to be the thing to pair them but vets advise against it and so does the RSPCA. (which is the UK version of spca).
In a small cage bad things will happen
depending on how young they are , if they are younf then yes it might work but if they are older than i would say no they are like rats and mice they dont get along once they are older they consider eachother a problem
Hmm, if they've known eachother for a while, they'll be the best of friends. But they might not get along if you put them together. Puth them in serpeate tanks (or whatever your're keeping them in) and put them side by side. If they dont scratch at the tank, or try to hurt eachother, then expiriment and put them in together for a while. Watch them so just in case they dont start to fight while you're not there
its okay but i will not say to do it because i rabbit can kill the little fellow wiv his back feet
Put them together, but watch them closely. They are both mild and non-aggressive..That rabbit may be horny though, so watch him extra carefully
I did . The rabbit didn't like the howg but they didn't fight.
yes
Yes you can and I actually got my Guinea Pig from the SPCA and she was in a display with Rabbits.
Yes and no, it all depends on the animals. If you do add a rabbit make sure to get a female, since the males like to hump anything(even the neutered ones do sometimes). If you can find a young rabbit(make sure you get an expert to sex it young males are often mistook as females when young). At the sheter I work at we often let the rabbits and guinea pigs have free run together. You may need to keep them in seperate cages for a bit until they are use top each other. Plus a huge cage with lots of hiding places will help out. Sorry about your loss and I hope you can work things out to get your cavy a new freind!
it just depends on their personalities. if they get along yes. if they dont.. no.
They do it in pet stops all the time. They will get alone fine and even like the companionship.
It's not a good idea. their foods are completely different and not good for each other. Rabbits carry a bacteria that can be fatal to piggies. The piggie can get respiratory, and urine tract infections from the rabbit urine.
I have heard that people do it, but most would recommend against it. For instance, rabbits and guinea pigs have different dietary needs and rabbits love to groom and be groomed and piggies won't groom. This could cause a fight and the rabbit could hurt or even kill the piggie. See this article:

No, no no! Do NOT house a rabbit and guinea pig together. Petstores are notorious for bad information and often set really bad (and sometimes dangerous) examples.
1. Guinea pigs and rabbits require a different diet. Guinea pigs cannot eat rabbit food, and guinea pig food is not suited for rabbits.
2. Rabbits have powerful back legs that can seriously injure or kill a guinea pig if it should kick.
3. Rabbits are carriers of bortedella, which is a harmless bacteria in rabbits but in guinea pigs can cause serious illness and even death.
DO NOT HOUSE RABBITS AND GUINEA PIGS TOGETHER!
If there babies they can share a cage and be friends. If there older the will fight

Please do not put them together

We have had people that have had people turn in pigges that have has them in with rabbit. Whether or do it is a good idea or not I do not know. the guineas pig require a pellet with vitamin C in it, and the rabbit require different nutrient, than the piggies does, in the end I think it would be cheaper to buy a cage than pay the veterinarian bill because of conditions such as scurvy from not have enough vitamin C, and crystal from eating alfalfa after six month, you really need to research before you put them together.
