Can we make a pet out of a wee female arimadillo??

I don't think they are really pet material. They eat lots and lots of ants. They are related to anteaters. There is a an animal sanctuary in Virginia where my sister and her kids got to meet and cuddle some hand raised armadillos earlier this month. She says they felt leathery.

If you found one, take it to a wildlife sanctuary where trained people can care for it. Your state fish and wildlife agency can help you find a sanctuary.

Get a cat or dog if you want a non-human family member.

Armadillos can carry leprosy. So no, it's not a good idea to make a pet out of an armadillo. It's not a good idea to make a pet out of any wild animal. Years of domestication have made modern cats, dogs, birds etc. acceptable pets; subjecting a wild-caught animal to the rigors of confinement is not only dangerous to people, but the animal as well.

Aside from carrying disease, they have incredibly sharp and powerful claws and strong legs, and they love to dig. Both of us probably don't have homes suitable for that.

Our hearts would only be broken anyway. I've seen two or three times the number of dead armadillos than live. They don't seem like very smart creatures.
