Could a flock of marauding ducks attack and overtake a band of possessive beavers in the land of the free??

Answers:
YES

Ducks can be very aggressive to animals even much larger than them.

If this is a real question.. yes a flock of ducks COULD run off a Band of Beavers if they wanted too

I would be surprised though if they would want to.

:)

Wismom
hmmm not sure maybe
Of course. It's the land of the free, and the home of the brave. So then it's only if they're brave ducks.
Nope.you ever been up close to a beaver?..lol Ducks would be in a quack!..
????.
i wrote that backwards didn't i
NO, BUT IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE IN THE HOME OF THE BRAVE.

Convincing a landlord to accept pets?

I may be moving in the next month or so to take a new job. I have only found two apartments that will allow pets (I have two cats, and will not leave them or give them away). One is out of my price range, and one is a complete hole - I think my car has more room. There are lots of places for rent in this town, but everyone says "no" to pets. Has anyone had any luck in convincing a landlord to accept pets? And if so, how? Any advice appreciated.
Answers:
I am a landlord, and I've had tenants who talked me into pets. First of all, offer to put down extra security deposit. Then offer to pay a little more each month. Believe it or not, regular wear and tear on carpets, etc, is worse with someone who has two cats than someone who has no cats at all. And when you move out, the place will have to be cleaned exceptionally well in case the next tenant has allergies. Finally, get a letter of reference from your current landlord. Under the law,I can only ask your landlord a few questions about you when checking your rental history. However, you can offer information from your current landlord which may sway a decision.

Personally, I've never had a tenant with a cat willing to follow a few simple rules that ever did any damage. And they usually stayed longer because they had kitties and I would accomodate them. It was a win-win for everyone involved.
tell him ur legally blind in one eye.. and your seeing-eye pet is medical necessity
buy him a sweet little kitten/puppy
good luck
With cats, the main concern of landlords is the smell. My advice? I'd tell the landlord that you will put an extra deposit, just in case, and that your cats are fixed and don't spray. Assure him/her that you take very good care of you family members and that you clean the box twice a day(even if it's only once). Good luck. I wouldn't give up my kitty either for no reason!
i had 3 cats once and ran into the same situation. i finally found a house i wanted, but the landlord said "no pets, especially cats!" but by the time i got done with him, we were ALL moving in!

you simply need to state that they are part of the family, after "ooohhing and aaawwing" about their rental. but don't be phony about it. and you need to reassure and reassure the landlord that you are very clean (if you really are) and that you have no tolerance for pets that piss in the house! (and be ready to get rid of your animal(s) if they start to do so, right away!)

having extra cash with you for an animal deposit is a very good idea AAAAAND have cash for the first and last months rent and the deposit with you. try to get the landlord to agree to allow you and your pets to move in right away. harder to say no to straight up cash than someone with a check, etc. and don't forget your receipt from the landlord! make sure he specifies which is rent, deposit and animal deposit on it.
it's not worth getting evicted for, you can bring it up that you have these 2 cats that you love but don't try and hide them in there a small closet is no place for a cat to live. that is abuse! Keep looking even if you have to drive half hour or 45 mins to get to work maybe even an hour you got to keep your family together.
look at apartments that are over businesses the landlords are usually a little more accepting of accomidating you. we moved over a spa almost a year ago she wasn't planning on having pets alowed up here but she is a cat lover herself and we asked if we could get some cats and she said yes to having 2 cats.
Why would you want to try to change someone's mind just for your own benefit? People have reasons for not allowing pets, and it's not up to you to force yourself or your cats on someone. Instead, since you say there are so many places to live, look around even more, and not just at apartments. Take some time to look into houses that might fit your budget, or vice vera, however the case may be.
You won't have any luck at all unless you offer a deposit large enough to recarpet the entire place after you leave AND replace all the baseboards in the apartment. Cats spray. If ONE cat sprays, every cat that is in the place after that WILL spray. It's just that simple.
A friend of mine got her dog accepted in our apartment building. She had obsessive/compulsive disorder and her doctor gave her a prescription for the little dog. He's now her companion dog. If you could get a prescription for them, but you need to have a disorder. I'm thinking that if you persuade your doctor how depressed you'd get if you needed to part with them--.. Good luck! I hope I helped you.
You could also tell the landlord that cats are very clean animals and offer to pay extra to have them. If that doesn't happen or your doctor won't help I would move into the small apartment--at least your two cats will be with you until you could find somewhere else.
You know what? Doe is wrong. He may be a landlord, but I have a cat! She doesn't ruin anything, but you will need to listen to him.
Just ask, point blank. Tell them your situation, and offer to pay more for a "pet" security deposit. Our house was pet-free, but we had a cat, and the landlord was all right with it. We didn't have to pay a pet deposit, either, but a lot of places that allow pets DO require a pet deposit. It pays for any damage pet related- pee smell, spraying, scratched walls, etc.
Where I live it is illegal for a landlord to say no pets allowed. It is discriminatory. Check your bylaws for this loophole.
Need to keep searching or find a trusted family member or friend to take in the cats while you continue to search.

If a landlord says no pets, that means no pets. If you try to sneak them, you be breaking the contract and can evict you, plus not give disposite back.
I HATE landlords that have 'tudes about me having pets in MY HOME. It may be their BUILDING but after all, it's MY HOME! When I run up against landlords with these 'tudes about pets, I give them my "But, I bet you take KIDS" speech and LEAVE!! I REFUSE to do business with someone like that!

Even if you do get lucky and are actually able to 'talk' them into allowing you to have your pets against their original wishes: First, you MUST get it in WRITING! and second you must have a contingency plan in case they decide to change their minds. I've run into THAT before!

My advise is to continue your search until you find a place that you like that has a landlord that will allow you your pets.NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!
OY!! I HATE that more %26 more prop. owners won't take pets! You know why it's getting so bad? BAD PEOPLE! The same reason that dogs bite, kill, are neurotic %26 need to have laws %26 people to protect them. I know that tons of people leave filth, ruined carpets, even the pet itself behind. In my case, when I first moved into my place a cat would vist occaisionally. I said to myself "Cool, I can have a cat!" So I immediatly went %26 rescued from my local shelter. When other neighbors saw him in the window they dropped a dime on me %26 told the owner. He immediatly said "Get rid of it now! (He's basically a bastard %26 hates animals..which makes me very suspect of his character(I wonder if he can swim). I said look, there is a cat living in this bldg. You can't discriminate. He said that that cat was here by order of a physician. I'll get a physician to back me up. Well, you'd better be in a life threatening situation then(dick).. At the time I was working in a board %26 care for mentally disabled adults %26 the best psychs in town see patients there %26 both believe strongly of the importance of companion animals. I got 2 prescriptions written %26 2 pretty scathing letters about how I need a pet. That shut the stupid landlord up! P.S. That visiting cat who I thank for making it possible to have my cat is "7 Toes".he really has 7 toes on each foot! ..is my "Papi's" best friend they have play days together in my apt.
Yes, and more than once. I met with the landlord(s) personally. I explained that I realize they have a no pet policy but I would give them references from my past landlord as well as my vet. I also encouraged them to meet my pet(s). I offered to pay a "pet fee".

In one case, the landlord allowed my two cats because she knew I wouldn't be walking them around the complex, i.e. they would be hidden from the other renters. The other landlord made an exception after she met my dog. I got another landlord to allow my pets because I paid a non-refundable $250.00 "pet fee".

I bought my own home over 13 years ago. Now, I have 3 dogs, a feral cat and a house kitten. I am my own landlord, finally!
A lot of people have had good suggestions but I remember reading that some landlords are asking pet owners to get blacklights so they can be on top of invisible pet stains that will cause smells. Offer to get one. They're about $15-20. Anything that you can promise to do to keep the place clean will be a big help.

Compared to other animals has a horse good intelligence?

Answers:
Dang..you put me on the spot here. I am a huge horse lover and been around them all of my life. But to be honest.not really. A horses natural response is to flee, so this makes them seem skittish but if you understand their natural instincts isnt to stand and fight its fright and flee like a deer. Does this make them any less intelligent then the dog whose instinct is to fight. Not really when you look at it from their perspective. Are we any smarter to sit there and argue then the person who will sit quietly and walk away. Maybe. Maybe not. Some horse breeds seem more intelligent then others and this might be true but its also a handlers responsiblility in understanding that particular breed and working w/it in away that they understand. Is this the fault of the breed.NO A quarterhorse may handle rougher hands then an Arrabian. Not meaning the arab is any less smart..Infact I have worked w/both breeds and I find the arab w/the right handling can be brilliant more so then the dead head quarter. I have chosen to raise the Paint. So I am not being judgemental here..its facts, but other animals tend to be more intelligent then my dearly loved equines. Darn!!
pigs, monkeys, dolphins and dogs are some of the smartest.. followed by some birds.

horses are kinda mid range, with some breeds being considered more intelligent than others.. donkeys are actually more intelligent than a horse
If you take into consideration all the things that a horse can learn and remember in their lifetimes I would say that yes a horse has very good intelligence. Of course I am a horse person and love them dearly. I have been around them all my life and am amazed at some of the things that they remember.
what animals? I have 3 including 1 quarter horse, 1 missouri fox-trotter, and a saddlebred. All breeds differ in intelligence. My Saddlebred can lay down on command, and do everything a dog could do. Go watch a Dressage competion, or a Hunter/Jumper Competition. That will give you a good idea what they can do. They can remember just about everything you teach them, and are sensitive to cues.
Depends on what you consider intelligence.

Horses exhibit astounding "emotional intelligence" which they've adapted throughout their existance. Many grazing animals have this ability to read a predator's state of mind. Is the predator on the hunt? Is the predator just passing through? It's not just about body language, there is another sense kicking into play. How do they know to run when they can't even see the danger?

Horses are well adapted to "read" a human's emotional state, which is why a lot of horse show competitors have to tame their nerves before going into the ring, because if the rider is strung out, the horse will pick up on it, channel it and will exhibit nervous behavior, however you can put a calm relaxed rider on the same horse and all of a sudden the nervous horse is focused and calm.

Some scientists have found that horses who are buddies have the ability to know when their buddy is nervous, in danger, happy or calm, even if they're miles apart.

Besides this intelligence, horses can problem solve and do simple tricks just like dogs. Look up the book about Beautiful Jim Key, a horse who was taught math, reading and spelling among other problem solving skills.

Additionally, it is fairly simple to teach a horse to jump a course, or do a dressage test or a reining pattern without a bridle, even if the horse doesn't know the pattern, the course or the test beforehand. Horses are able to follow the most simplistic and the most smallest of movements from the rider in the saddle or on the ground, sometimes no movement is needed at all and the rider just has to think of what they want next. Many riders have had this experience.

Some horses are so intelligent they are known as being "too smart for their own good". These horses know how to bully humans and they usually have various techniques to get out of work from laying down before the rider mounts to testing every new rider that gets on with bucking to rearing to just planting themselves in one spot and not moving. Once you teach these horses not to do one bad behavior, they figure out another behavior to replace it.

Compared to dogs and cats, which I have at home, I feel that they are both so much more simple in terms of understanding them, however their intelligence is more than what humans give them credit for.

The best way to decide what animals have intelligence is by looking at how successful they are in their environment. That is where they learn, so that is where they apply what they've learned.
yes a horse has good intelligence!
Horses are extremely intelligent animals.
These display their intelligence in many ways every day - an example of this is I recently purchased a young gelding who this time last month did not know how to pick his leg up for me to clean the dirt out of his hoof - now by merely saying up - he recognises the signal and lifts each leg up without me even having to touch his legs.
Horses know routines as well - every evening at 5 o clock my horses gather at the gate waiting to be brought in and fed - once the gate is open the all walk up the field and each into their individual stables - each knowing which one is their stable.
TO BE TOTALLY HONEST NO ONE KNOWS BECAUSE NO ONE PERSON AND UNDERSTNAD THE COMPLEXITY OF THE HORSES TRUE MIND. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE I COULDNT TELL YOU BUT THEY ARE VEY MUCH SMARTER THAN WE THINK!! WHY ELSE DO YOU THINK ITS TAKING US SO LONG TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE ANIMAL!
Well, sort of. the horse has an incredible memory and a great capacity to learn by repetition and reward. But they have poor powers of reasoning, they don't analyze too well and they don't understand the concept of time.

I'd argue that some horses are indeed smarter than others. I've had a few that seemed incredibly bright, as well as a couple that were dumber than dirt!

companies manufacturing pet feeding owls?

Answers:
what is a pet feeding owl? I don't think you can manufacture an owl.it is an animal.
your question confuses me..
How can you manufacturer an owl perhaps you meant breeding owls. Some keepers of owls do feed their owls with live rodents such as mice, as do those who keep birds of pre, they're train them to hunt for their own food as well.
whats the question
To follow the common theme..what exactly is a pet feeding owl?
How would a company go about manufacturing one I wonder? There was one on 'Blade Runner' but I didn't see anyone feeding it any pets, nor indeed did anyone feed it to their pet. I think that's much clearer now.
Errrrrrrrrrrrr
how horrid
Not sure what you are actually asking?
Do you mean pet feeding bowl?
I went on Google and typed in "pet bowl manufacturer" and got this lot;

try different combinations of words in your searches for better results, such as dog food bowl manufacturer etc.

COME on more people who has a pet RACCOON!!??

i kno there has to be a good amount of people that own raccoons my friends lives in ohio n has one idk if the illigal there n i dont care eather.i just want to kno who has one so u can tell me how r they good, nice ,mean, playful??annoying?can u potty train them? idk anything?? (im doin a good report on pet raccoons)
Answers:
My best friend lived on a farm and they were tearing down a shed with a bunch of baby raccoons in the loft. Instead of killing them they took them in, kept 1, and gave the rest away. They bottle fed him and raised him until he was about 6 months old, and boy was he mean! That little bugger would bite anyone he didn't know and he finally disappeared one day. They think he climbed up under a car and escaped. I would recommend a dog or cat over a raccoon, they don't make good pets. They are cute though!!
Raccons are very playful and you can potty train them.
My aunt raised orphaned racoons and they can get very dangerous as they get older. They can be very friendly if tame but they will try to climb you like a tree if they are scared. She had them house trained too. They played with their dogs, i think they thought they were dogs too.
I don't own a raccoon or know anyone who has, but I recommend the book "Rascal" by Sterling North (see http://www.amazon.com/rascal-sterling-no. for info) - it's a true story a guy wrote about incidents with his pet raccoon when he was a boy. It taught me a lot of things about raccoons I didn't know before, and it might have some useful information for you.
Ok, me and my bf raised 2 ratcoons that were really really young because their mother got hit by a car and it was so sad. They are reallllyyy mean at first and you just keep them in a cage and bottle feed them puppy formula. Make sure to keep them warm. They also make this really funny noise, like a purring but a lot louder. It is soo cute. But you always have to wear gloves because you never know with ratcoons, if they have any diseases. Occasionally ratcoons will carry a really dangerous disease that can kill you if they bite you!!You will have to look it up Im not sure what its called. After they get off the bottle you just feed them smashed up bananas and fruit. They also love bread and make sure to always keep fresh water nearby. After they get old enough you just let them go in the wild. If not they just hang around up in trees and you can still feed them if you want just leave food by the tree! Hope this helps!
As they get older they will get wild and could attack you and severly hurt or kill you
my little cousin did have one, but it ran away. he had it for about 4 months i think
Bad Idea. Raccoon saliva can cause polyradiculoneuritis. They carry giardia. IT's technically illegal unless you have a wildlife rehab permit.

The racoon could make you sick and if it ever bit anyone who complained, then by law it would be euthanized, it's head cut off and submitted for rabies testing. This is something you should consider before getting one.

I've raised HUNDREDS of baby raccoons. Why don't you volunteer with wildlife rescue and then you too could have hundreds of raccoon babies! It actually feels good to let them grow up, then leave the nest to cause mischief.

Save wildlife! Don't contribute to it's extinction by taking more animals out of the Wild. If you really love raccoons, you wouldn't own one. Unlike Dogs and cats, they need to be free. You'll see that in time.
I agree with Rabid. They can also carry roundworm that can kill people. There are plenty of animals out there that make excellant pets, raccoons are not one of them!
Yeah, read up on raccoon roundworm. It's a potentially deadly parasite that they shed in their poop. Plus they can be really vicious. I've spent alot of time chasing them off my deck and out of my yard.

Come on everyone, what on earth does the expression 'No flies on me!' actually mean. I'll give you a pony!

I believe it is an Australian expression.I found this on the net and the meaning stated is very similiar to how my family use the expression..Dear Word Detective: Over Thanksgiving, I was sitting at the table next to my aunt, who was dandling my young cousin on her knee. After a particularly sharp comment on my cousin's part, my aunt laughed and remarked that my cousin had "no flies on her," whereupon my cousin glanced at her shirt to check for the aforementioned flies. This caused me to realize that this phrase doesn't seem to quite make sense when you think about it. Flies are known to hang around filth, so you'd think that saying someone had "no flies on them" would mean they were particularly sweet-smelling or dapper, rather than precociously clever. Yet that is the sense I've always heard the phrase used. Any light to shed, Mr. Detective? -- Colleen Sullivan, via the internet.

The insect we know as a "fly" is, of course, so-called because it flies, and both the noun "fly" and the verb "to fly" are very old, dating back to Indo-European roots. Interestingly, the root of the verb "to fly" originally denoted only rapid motion, not necessarily through the air, and also gave us our modern English words "fleet," "flow" and "flood."

Meanwhile, back at your perceptive niece, to say that "there are no flies on" someone does indeed mean that the person is sharp, on the ball, and paying attention. The phrase dates back to the mid-19th century (in the form "no flies about," meaning "no flies buzzing around"), and arose either in the U.S. or Australia. While it is true that flies are attracted by places that are, shall we say, less than spotlessly clean, in this case the metaphor has a different logic. The comparison was to a horse or cow that was sufficiently active and mobile that flies never had a chance to congregate around it. So to say that there are "no flies on" a person means that he or she isn't just sitting there staring into space like a torpid cow.
means you don't stink i think.
Flies only like one thing. A fresh steamy pile of s**t. You work out the rest!!
it means you are sharp , quick, you have not stagnated
It means you dont stay around long enough for any to land on you..i think..and thanks for fifty quid..oh and 2 points xx
It means you are a lot cleverer than most on PetQnA.com
well flies are attracted to what.?
thats right , sh1t.
no flies on me = I am not sh1t.
It either means you dont stink, your not s**t or possibly your not stupid enough to let flies stay on you without wafting them off, like some animals do.
Don't quote me on this but I think it may have something to do with the fact that when you're not paying attention flies often land on you, same as when you're dead! Why on earth would you think of such a question?!
This is a copy of the answer from the word-detective where you will find research on a lot of saying. Very interesting site. O, thanks but no thanks on the pony.

"Flies with that?

A flea and a fly in a flue were imprisoned, so what could they do? Said the fly, "Let us flee!" Said the flea, "Let us fly!" So they fled through a flaw in the flue.

OK, that ancient bit of doggerel has absolutely nothing to do with your question, but I was hoping that by reciting it in print I'd be able to stop it from running through my mind. It didn't work.

I believe it relates to you are alert and constantly aware of whats going on around you implying you are always moving around and not sitting still hence giving flies a chance to settle on you.
Well, my understanding is that flies go to *. Hence if you have flies around you, your *, if you have ' No flies on me' your not *. Simple
it is an expression from way back in the day when your grandpa was working the fields and you as the grandson didnt want to help.

grandpa basically said that grandson was lazy

no flies on me -- meant i am too busy for the flies to land on me -- sun up to sun down grandpa was busy nonstop while the grandson was lazy all the day.
It means you are quick witted, alert and active. It can be traced to the cattle ranches of both America and Australia and is first recorded during the mid 1800s. Quite simply the lively, active cattle and horses attracted few flies that preferred to settle on the slow, sluggish animals who would stay still for the longest period of time. RED HERRINGS and WHITE ELEPHANTS is a good book to get as it gives the origins of everyday phrases we use. The Author is Albert Jack. Hope this helps.

coldest temperatures to leave rabbits outside?

does anybody know how low the temperature can be before they need to be brought in?
Answers:
Rabbits actually do much better in the cold than in the heat. Rabbits can normally withstand very cold temperatures down to about -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Below that temperature, you start running the risk of their ears freezing or the rabbit freezing to death.

Rabbits can take the cold well, however they cannot take a draft well. That's why if you keep your rabbits outside you want to make sure your rabbit has protection from the wind on 3 of the 4 sides of the hutch or cage. A draft will cause them to get pneumonia. When they get pneumonia, they will start breathing heavily and normally die within 1 to 2 days. Once the temperature starts getting down into the mid to lower 50's, that's a good time to make sure you have the back on your hutch to make sure your rabbit doesn't get pneumonia.

In the summer however, you want a draft on your rabbits to help cool them down from the heat.
55 degrees
my bunny gets taken inside when the temp. is 50 or lower. it might be different for your bunny if it has a thiker coat,
I'd say around 50.
I use to leave my rabbits outside all year long, but, I did bring them into the barn in the fall. Over the winter I just made sure I packed the cage to the top with lots of straw so they could bury down in it and keep warm. I fed them extra food too. They were fine.
If you can avoid not putting them out, this will increase their life span by years. I would say 50 degrees any lower you would need a heater going constantly. Down south in Florida I would say your OK till winter nights start to kick in but I would bring them in as they are use to the warmth and cold might make them sick.
Rabbits actually do better in the cold than in the heat. If you have them in a sheltered cage with straw or hay that they can burrow in, they will be fine. Just make sure they are not in direct wind. Also, even though temps are cold, make sure they still have water. A heated dish, if you live in a below freezing area.
My grandmother used to raise rabbits. Whenever she heard it would freeze, she had old sleeping bags that she covered the hutches with. I don't think she had any rabbits freeze to death in the 40 years that she did it.
Bring them inside and leave them inside
Please don't leave your rabbit outside at all. They are suseptible to heat stroke, hypothermia, predators, flystrike, fleas, mites and many other things. They make great house pets with some preperation. If you are concerned about smell you should get it spayed or neutered and they can be litter box trained.
Rabbits do fine outside as long as they're sheltered from the wind/snow.

cold baby bunnies?

my rabbit had babies sometime late lastnight they are very cold feel like ice cubes i have them wrapped in rags an towels they arent breathing but arent discolored either so i thought try an warm them up an see i have placed a blow dryer beside them an have them on my dryer with it running what do i do ??
Answers:
Errrrrrr, If they are as cold as Ice, then they are most definitley DEAD, you will not warm them up, its too late.
You are doing everything you can right now. Has she pulled fur and made a nest? If she hasn`t they likely won`t make it. If she has, as soon as they`re warm enough place them in the nest. As little human handling at this stage is the best. Good Luck
Please take them to the VET!
Just because they are cold doesn't mean they are dead. When they aren't breathing, that means they are dead. The best thing to do when they are cold like that is to immediately make sure they are all in the nestbox together. The warmth of them together as a group is what keeps them warm. Secondly, if the mother didn't pull fur to cover them up, pull fur out of her and use that fur to help cover them up. You may want to put them under a heat lamp, just don't get the heat lamp too close till the babies feel a little warmer. You want to warm the babies up if they are cold, but you don't want to cook them either. Once they are warm, then put the nestbox back in with the mother.

From what you stated, they aren't breathing, so you are too late.

PS - I got thinking about this some more. You don't want to look for whether the babies are breathing, that can be difficult to determine. You want to look to see if you can see any movement by them whatsoever, however small the movement is. If they are moving, then they are alive. I've had baby rabbits that I've found that were almost as cold as an ice cube and lived through it.
I'm sorry, I hope they're okay - these articles will give you a lot of info -
http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/surpriseli.
http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/orphan.htm.
The mother should have them in her nest - if the babies crawled out from the nest, you should place them back in their nest and let the mother care for them. However, if the mother has truly rejected them, this second article explains how to -
"Keep the babies in a warm (about 75o - 78o Farenheit), quiet place in a nest similar to the one described above. (Bunny fur is the best lining, but clean cotton wadding will do as a substitute. Just be sure the babies do not get tangled in it.) Two or more babies usually are able to snuggle and keep each other warm if they have a good, padded nest. If there's only one baby, a warm water bottle wrapped in a soft towel can provide an excellent artificial heat source, but be sure the baby can crawl away from the bottle if it feels too warm. "

Super Pet庐 Deluxe Ferret Home - 4 Levels
Answers:
Although I cant see the picture, I would say this was an excellent cage for rats, especially for 2.
Every cage has some faults, but this is a good make of cage and reliable. I would beware of the bar spacing though. I recently bought a Super Pet ferret cage(the XL deluxe my first home one) and the bar spacing was too wide for my rats. Some of them could get out completely but some could only get their head out, which got me really worried that they would hang themselves(it has been know to happen). I solved the problem by getting some wire mesh from a DIY store(B%26Q), cut it to fit each side with wire cutters and attached it using small cable ties. I also used a few files to make sure there werent any sharp edges.
Hey!
I couldn't find the measurement but I found this website and this is a review of it
""I didn't buy this cage for a ferret or a chinchilla I bought it for my two male rats and they love it! A lot of space for them to frolic.
The only down side is when I got mine the connector for one of the ramps were broken. The grooves along the edges of the selves aren't easy to clean."

Click here for a GREAT tip on how to get the green out of your rabbit bottles?

Put some dried rice in the bottom of the bottle and a little bit of water and give it a shake and rinse it out. You can see all the green come out, and then the bottle is like new.
Answers:
If you are getting ALGAE in your pet (any pet's) water bottle.. you are not cleaning their bottle often enough. Hence, you are probably not cleaning their cage or play area enough and should do it more often. Having algea in any animals water can make them violently ill. If you won't eat it or drink it, you shouldn't be feeding/or watering your rabbit with it!!
Fab idea, the green colour is a bit icky :(
I just use an old toothbrush, but I will try the rice thing, thanks.
Sounds like a good idea. How do I get my rabbit to stop pooing everywhere?
i use old thin toothbrush but thanks!!
I'll try that in my husbands musty flask, lol
that is soooo sad!
I'll remember that if i ever get a rabbit
Cool! Does anyone know how to clean hamster water bottles? Email me to tell me how at- cowgirl_rock@hotmail.com or livin_in_a_barrel@yahoo.com
thanks! i use a baby bottle cleaner! that works fab as well!
wow, thanks. il try that next time i change my rabbits water.

thanks!
Why would there be green in? It sounds like it needs fresh water daily to prevent mold. Eww.
You could also take a leaf off something like a privet bush, break it up a bit, pop that in the bottle with some water and shake it good and proper - voila, clean bottle and no wasted rice!
i use a baby bottle brush

cleaning my pet rabbit?

ok i heard that it is bad to give your pet rabbit a bath and she is really dirty
Does anybody know how you are suppose to clean a rabbit
i tried a baby whipe but that did not help
Answers:
Bunnies don't usually need to be bathed, in fact, bathing them can make them sick, because they're not accustomed to being wet and cold - it's very bad for them.

If you occasionally need to wash your bunny's fur, for example if she has had diarrhoea, the best idea is to place a clean towel on the ground, say in the kitchen or bathroom, and saturate the towel with luke-warm water (not hot and never cold water - cold water can put a bunny into shock) and then place your bunny on the towel, let the water soak into her, and massage her grubby areas gently but firmly with the wet towel until she's clean.

If that isn't getting her clean enough, in unusual circumstances, you can also give her a 'mini' bath, but only in about one inch, two centimetres of luke-warm water (not hot and never cold water). It's also best to do this in a container on the floor, because rabbits hate water, and she will probably try to jump out of the water. So be VERY careful that she doesn't jump out suddenly and injure herself, don't take your eye off her for one second while she's around the water.
Although some bunnies grow up swimming in the family pool and going on camping trips where they paddle around in the lake, most rabbits are not used to this routine and would find even an occasional bath quite stressful. NEVER-unless your veterinarian advises it to bring down a fever-should you give a sick rabbit a bath. Because seemingly healthy rabbits can have undiagnosed problems, it's best not to subject them to the stress of a bath. If your rabbit is very badly infested with fleas, there's a good chance that he is already compromised and may go into shock when bathed. Also, a thoroughly wet rabbit takes a very long time to dry, so spot cleaning the dirty area is better than an overall bath. Normal rabbit body temperature is 102. Since they are subject to heat stress, use a warm dryer, not hot.
We have a rabbit that is almost 3 and he has never needed a bath. They are very good at cleaning themselves. Occassionally , however, we have had to clean his behind, and paws. We did this by putting a couple of inches of water in the bottom of a deep bucket-- so he couldnt hop out. Use a little bit of baby shampoo , or rabbit shampoo and swish him around. You may have to let him sit for awhile if his behind is really dirty, or even work out the debris with your hands. Make sure you rinse him with clean water----maybe in another bucket, or after you've dumped the soapy water in the same bucket. You could give him a full bath that this way too. Just soap up his entire body. Avoid getting water in his face or ears. Dry him good with a towel and comb out the loose hair.
Try not to let him get so dirty. Make sure you clean his cage at least 1x per week, maybe even 2x and that he has plenty of bedding or litter to absorb the urine that stains their feet. He wont get so dirty. Have fun.
i used to have bunnies and i gave them baths once in a while. they have special bunny bath shampoo. it's around $5. just put your bunny in the sink and make sure you use warm water (not hot, not cold), make sure the shampoo doesn't get in it's eyes, although i think the bunny shampoo is tear free, but just to be safe don't get it in it's eyes. towel dry the bunny.. if it's a outdoor bunny then make sure he is completley dry before he goes outside. don't want him catching a cold, plus dirt will stick better to a wet animal.i wouldn't bathe him more than once every week or two. it could dry out his skin and fur. email me if u have any other questions.
Rabbits are typically fastidiuously clean animals, and spend a good deal of time grooming themselves. While this means they usually do not need baths, regular brushing helps keep their coat in good condition and help prevents hairballs.
Rabbits do not need baths and generally find them very stressful. If absolutely necessary it is better to just do a "spot cleaning" of the area that is dirty rather than subjecting a rabbit to the stress of bathing. If it is absolutely necessary to bathe your rabbit, keep in mind that it takes rabbit fur a long time to dry and it is a good idea to use a blow dryer (on a warm, never hot, setting) to speed the process. Rabbits are prone to overheating, so be cautious. It is best to avoid baths if possible.
While it is not the best idea to clean your bunny, it can be done if she is absolutely filthy. There are a few different products you can use, that are readily available for a small price at most petstores. There are powdered baths that you can get where you just sprinkle the bath powder on the bunny and usually brush them really well after (works wonderfully for problems like mud!) There are bunny shampoos that you can get that have special moisterizers in them just for a bunny's delicate and sensitive skin that work just like any other shampoo (just make sure to stay away from bunny's eyes, and make sure you get all the soap rinsed off). What is it that she got into? e-mail me at kbviolin_98@yahoo.com.I might be able to come up with a better suggestion depending on what she got into!
My pet rabbit is free roaming in the yard. Occasionally I give him a bath against lice and mites. Our outdoors sink (next to washer) is high enough, so that when I bathe my rabbit there it's no problem at all. I use luke warm water. .and I make sure to stand back whenever he starts shaking the water off. It's more stressful for me actually. I dry him thoroughly after that. He then stays where he can dry completely first, before I let him roam around freely again.
For my guinea pigs I use foam wash, which I apply to the fur and work it through the entire fur with a small dry towel (no water). You can use that for bunnies, too.
I guess if it is necessary, you should be able to bathe your rabbit. they do sell shampoos and moisturizers and fresh smelling body spray at the pet stores for the bunny. The question will be if he is gonna let u take him a bath..
u can give it a bath but u have 2 dry it really well cuz if there belly is wet they could get sick
cuz thats what we do with our rabbit we just dry him really well
You can find articles on http://www.rabbit.org If your rabbit is not wiggly try picking him up and just running some warm water over his rear and using a paper towel.
i'm alergic to my bunny when she is dirty i can't kiss her hug or snuggle with her dumb *ss i call her dumb cuz her bday is april fool, she fights wit u 1 sec and next she loves u no matter what i do to this bunny she always forgave me. but here is the thing i wash her up every weekend so i put her in the bathroom sink and run luke warm water put her under and use a regular bar of soap and wash her up. but make sure u hold her properly b/c the bunny will jump and scratch ur skin so have some 1 hold her and then u put soap on her. if u want wash her head wit alittle soap but make sure it dosen't go in her eyes. when done wrap the bunny wit a large tick towel and dry her off alittle put her in the cage cover her and let her do the rest 3 hours later or more dry, clean, smellin' good and ready to play wit.

Chinchillas+Vegas+Fla.=?

I'm moving to Vegas(and then to Fla.) and I want some chinchillas. Yes I know chinchillas and high temps dont mix but what do you think other wise? (about the situation and about chinchillas as pets, the good and the bad are welcome)
Answers:
I don't think the weather would be a factor since you'd likely keep it inside. I've always wanted one, too!
i looked into getting one of those. i think its a great idea. those things are adorable
We have 2 chinchillia's ( actually wanting to sell them but,,,) anyway as long as you keep them cooled with either fans or air conditioners they should be ok,, as far as moving with them just be very careful that you keep them very cool and lots of water.

Chins as pets,, being a first time chin owner,, they are more work than what I was led to believe,, they are pretty cool and alot of fun, but they need attention,, excersise, some are cuddly and some aren't,, ours don't really like to be around people very much,, they love to come out and run around but not to be held much,, they shed and pee ALOT. they need a routine,, and becuase they need have fresh food everyday so you have to make sure you can have someone to tend them if you are planning on going away for more than 24 hours.

That's about everything I can think of for now.
well i think chinchillas are awesome as pets and their fur is so soft and they ar eso cute I think if you knoe the right to take care of it then you should get one as long as you dont have any other bigger pets
Do more research on chinchillas. They aren't really cuddly and tend to bite. I wanted one, but they don't really like being pets.
The folks I talked to said they are absolutely hilarious to watch, they would let them out of the cage in the evenings and watch them run and hop all over, but not cuddly. Sort of a "look only" pet, like a fish tank.
Moving with them is fine, you already know to take precautions about the heat, just make sure they are legal in those states and you should be fine.
Good Luck
Seriously, there are chincillas in almost every pet store here in Florida.

If you are just getting one, it is best to get a male. They're pretty good pets and they live longer than most. About fifteen years.

If you do decide to get one, please make sure you have a cage for him that he can run around in. They do need a lot of room. They love to jump onto things and run. So a cage with platforms, a sleeping box, chew toys, and a hay rack would be ideal. It shouldnt be smaller than two feet wide and three feet high. And that's just for one chinchilla.

They come in a lot of different colors, but I think the prettiest are the black velvet and the golabar.

Oh and make sure theyre temperature of where they are (in the house, in the cage) is never more than 75 degrees. They can overheat and die very easily.

If you get one while they are young, they can become really tame and form a really strong bond with the owner.though sometimes they dont like to be cuddled too much. They love to run around and play with everything.

They are nocturnal, so most of the playtime should be at night.

I was trying to think of some downfalls to having a chinchilla, but im lost. I think theyre great pets.
i dont see the problem with the high temps if they are in the a.c.

Chinchillas??

I want to get a pet, but I cant get a cat or dog. I dont want a reptile, and cant afford a horse. So I thought about getting a small furry animal. I was considering a ginea pig, but then I remember the fun I had in 4rth grade when we had a chinchilla as a class pet. So I figured I might get one=)

But I'd probably have to keep him in my room, and being the teenager I am I listen to loud music ALOT. Will this be a problem for the chin./ginea pig? And what are basic things I need to know for the chin? I'm running out of pet ideas=(

thanx soo much

Chinchillas are a hit or miss. They either can become really fun and amusing pets, or they are boring and sometimes evil. They're phsyically delicate (there ribs can break if you pick them up wrong) and need a lot of attention to be friendly. If you have the time, and patience to deal with one, then ya.

Guinea pigs are really sweet but shy at first. Usually they are easier to make tame and nice, but it still takes a long time to get them outta their shells and into affectionate moods.

If you want small animals you should consider gerbils or rats. Both very friendly, gerbils are a riot and so funny but loud (they scratch at the cage a lot). they also like to pile their bedding everywhere.
Rats are pretty much the best small animal pet you could want. very friendly, smart, trainable, and cute to boot. they still are somewhat shy at first and require attention from you, but open up fast and if you give them stuff to do in their cage or get more than one they are ok to be left alone every once in a while without reverting to evil animals. if you want something thats going to be interactive and gentle and really fun- look into them.
i have a chinchilla. the first year was fun. but now she is SO much work and she flings food all over my room. but anyway music is fine. not really loud though because they can hear about 10 times louder than we can so just be carful.
Um, go ahead the chinchilla wouldn't minf. But try to give the chinchilla some attention
This site will tell you all you need to know.but keep the music down their hearing is like 10X what ours is..ferrets are great pets I have 3 of them and they are a lot of fun..though a lot of work..good luck
http://www.chinchillas-chinchillas.com/.
Chinchillas are great pets. Had three for a little while. Loud noises bother them so music might be a problem. In addition, just like all rodents, they go to the bathroom a lot and unless you clean constantly, your room will begin to have a bit of an unpleasant odor to it. The chinchilla itself is very clean. They take dust baths all the time (which is hysterical to watch) and are usually very friendly once they get to know you. Mine used to come out of its cage and sit on my shoulder while I read a book (it also liked to chew on the book while I read it). All in all, as long as you are willing to give them attention and keep the cage clean, they can be really nice pets.
Chinchillas are a really cool pet to have.I do have a chinchilla and they are especially good for people that have really bad allergies to animals with fur. Chinchillas are also really soft animals. The only not so good thing about them is that they are nocturnal. Meaning they are up at night and sleep through some of the day. But you can train them to stay up during the day by playing with them, and to sleep at night. If you do get a chinchilla they like alot of wood, and you can buy it at the pet store. Another cool thing that chinchillas do is, they take dust baths. It is really cool to watch. They roll around in the dust and do all sorts of cool things. You can also potty train your chinchilla. You really should buy a chinchilla. Hope I helped.
Have you gave any thinking on a fish or fish tank?Fish can be fun to watch and no one has to water them when you are gone from home /just put a food blook in for your fish and they are feed for 2 or 3 days if you cant be home . THEY dont leave hair/they dont need to go for a walk . Good Luck_-And fish dont mind LOUD MUSIC.
I have 2, Chip and Dale. They rock and they live a long time, and thy don't make alot of noise. In my eyes the perfect pet.

Chinchilla's?

I'm discussing with my fiance about getting a chinchilla by the end of the year. I had a chinchilla a couple years back which I bought from a pet store. I ended up finding out that he was sick when I bought him but I still tried keeping him until he died. So I'm not found of the idea of buying one from a pet shop again. Can anyone recommend reliable breeders or rescue's in the southern MA area?
Answers:
You can rescue one go to www.petfinder.com and on the bar on the left side of the home page search for small and furry put in you zipcode and search!!
Chinchallas r very difficult to keep alive..iv had three from pet stores.my first one died and my second was a monster..my third one was a great pet.pick a young one and get the book and follow it..it worked for me
chinchillas are not difficult to keep alive! we have 3.

standard gray male, 3 years old
mosiac white female, 2 years old
new baby mixed from them, 1 month old

as long as they are not sick when you get them, and you clean their cage regularly, give them the right food and hay, have the right bedding for their cage, and plenty of water, they are great pets. Do Not give them too many treats (raisins, ect.) it can cause diarrhea.

Chinchilla?

I am babysitting 2 male chinchillas over winter break. Can anyone tell me information about them, so i can be prepared in advnace?
Answers:
I've had my male chinchilla for the past 2ish years. If you're going to let them out of their cages, which is good to do atleast a little bit each day, make sure it is in a room where they can't go underneath anything, inside anything, and can't chew on any electrical wires. You'd be surprised where chins can fit. They're mostly fluff, so spaces that look too small for them might not be. Also, they'll chew on everything they can see, so if there's anything you don't want chewed.be warned. And be careful if you take them out not to step on them. They're fast and easily find ways to shuffle under your feet.

Their water needs to be changed daily, and their cages get messy really quickly. They poop a lot and often, and somehow mine always finds ways to fling his all the way across the room. The good thing is though, my chin has actually potty-trained himself. He will only pee in one corner of his cage, and he won't pee outside of his cage. So, if you're lucky, maybe the ones you're watching will do something similar.

You have to make sure it's never too hot for them too. Which I guess won't really be a problem during winter break.

They need to have a constant supply of food and hay. Raisins are god to chinchillas. They're an awesome and really effective treat.

Also, they need to take dust baths at least once a week. And they're nocturnal.

Phew.Chins are for the most part really sweet, so have fun with them. :]
I hear they make lovely coats! JUST KIDDING!! I love all critters equally.

That's too much to answer here.

But I can recommend an excellent reference for you to read. Get the 2006 Critters USA Annual (on the magazine stand in BooksaMillion.) It has a blue cover and a photo of a sugar glider on the front. It has an EXCELLENT article on the basic care and behavior of chinchillas. Lots of other interesting and informative articles about other small exotic pets, too. It's only $6.99 (I think.)

Good on you for doing your homework in advance!! The people for whom you are chinchilla-sitting are very lucky to have someone like you. :-)
what the hecka is chinchilla anyways? are you trying to spell sometihng like chuahualias those kind of dogs you saying ? well have you talked to the owner about what to do when you are babysitting those dogs over the winter time . well i use do lived in indiana during the winter time , i would put some warm blankets and gave them alot warm water , keep them busy by letting them play alot of toys and buy or hand made winter seasons dogs unitfits you can put on them to keep them warm if they needed go outside . that i did to my dogs , and if u should turn up the heater if the inside of the house is getting really cold , if not then i would get myself a small heater fan to keep them warm .
They are very spoiled puppies. If you have childern, they may not do well with kids. They like to sleep under a blanket. And there barks or so sweet. They get really cold easy. They don't eat alot.
they ant much trouble make sure you don't put them next to your blinds or drapes cause they love to chew and they will reach out and grab any thing they can to chew on
search online for chinchilla care or something.
hello. Chincillas are so much fun, especially at night. they are very active at night. THe are very soft and can jump out of you hands easily. Don;t squeeze the hard the will shed all of there fur! Give them there "dirt bath" its hillarious to watch. they chew on anything they can get ther mouth on.
Chinchillas need what is called chinchilla bath it is a white to gray dust that they roll in or else their fur will fall out. They are of the rodent family and have a special diet they eat. They are super fast so don't let them out of their cage unless you feel like running a marathon mad dash to try to catch them. They are cute and cuddly and can bite.

chinchilla vs mouse?

I have a 2 year old little chinchilla named gizzy. Well the last few nights he has been going APE on me! Loud squeeling noises and just plain NOT HIS USUAL SWEET SELF! Come to find out we have a few little field mice- and we caught 6 in traps. And sealed up the spots they were coming in at. Is this what was cuasing his behavior? Was this like a war cry or fear? My poor little Gizzy
Answers:
he probubly thought they were in HIS territory and THEY had to GO!
yea its porbally the mice.
I LOVE CHINCHILLA COATS =)
Why do we care? your mom has fleas and so does your chinchilla. oh and cuasing is spelled cAUsing.
Chinchillas are very terrtiorial, so the mice may have caused him to go crazy. He can also be getting bored. I use to give mine a small cardbord box at night filled with hay, cholla wood(they LOVE to eat it) and other chinchilla treats, just to keep them busy! The noise could be him calling for another chinchilla too, maybe he needs a chinchilla girl friend?
Maybe he was excited to see possible friends! Maybe he is lonely and is mad at you for killing his friends. ?? Just a thought. You know all those animals in Charlottes' Web talked to each other.

chinchilla question. i have 1 chinchilla that i love very much because he is very sweet and affectionate,?

but i think hes lonely. if i get another chinchilla to live with him, will his nice personality go away? could that chinchilla make him meaner? i wouldnt want him to just forget about people and only care for his new chinchilla friend.
Answers:
Pets are usually lonely try to get him a partner so that he would not feel lonely. But it depends on his temperament and mood he might get aggressive and start fighting with its partner..
Make sure you get one that is the same sex as he is. He will have a buddy, they will bond of course but you can still bond to the new one and have both of them happy.
He needs a mate. Chinchillas mate for life. Getting him a friend is a necessity, it won't change it's temperment around you.
depends on how old he is, we have 3 chinchillas and were told by the breeder of the last one that male chins dont take well to new companions after they are past 2 years old.

but who knows.

Chinchilla problem.!?

I have had my chinchilla for about three months now and he just recently started biting people. I will take him out to clean out his cage and when I go to put him back in, he bites. hard too. He bites everyone that holds him, he just started like three weeks ago. I went to Pets Mart and bought the chew sticks for him to see if that would keep him from biting people and it doesnt. Please help!
Answers:
How often do you get your little guy out for a run? My boy was pretty cocky as a youngster so yours might just be going through some teenage attitude.
Does he feel safe? He may be very scared of you and you dont even know it. Chinchilla's are very picky animals. It took a long time for my boy to learn how to trust me and its very hard to keep their trust. Chinchillas do not like to be handled or held a lot. A scratch behind the ear of under the chin is usually what my boy will put up with.
Also, your little guy might just not be getting enough excercise. How big is his cage? Is he getting lots of quiet time to sleep during the day? Is he annoyed by people?
I suggest you buy a book on chinchilla's or type in chinchilla care in g oogle and you'll get lots of info. Also, learn about what the different body language and noises that chinchillas do to get their point across. Your chin might be feeling threaten by you when you dont even mean to scare him so he feels he needs to defend himself.
maybe, he is in pain. take him to the vet and see what they say. ask for some exrays.
meaby someone that held him hurt him and hes affraid. he might be in pain tho too, talk to the vet
i rally dont know maybe take him or her to the vet
he might have cavities, make sure that he is not a she because that might be a sign or pregnate pets, hiding something, too hungry, or is selfish and hates it when people take him out or "his" cage, or maybe he hates being touched but since he never done this before i think you should bring him to the vet but bring him to the vet while he is in the cage, oh yeah and one more thing if you have no time to go to the vet you can call the vet and if you don't know the vet's numer then dial 411 and ask them for local vet and they will tell you the number, 411 is a phone number you call when you don't know someone elses phone number.

chinchilla ownership?

What's the downside to having one as a pet? What have you trained yours to do (I hear they are intelligent)?
Answers:
As with any animal there are pros and cons. Chinchilla's make great pets. I have 2 right now. The biggest thing with a chin is that it all depends on thier personality. Charlie is an adopted chin and is slowly coming around to being touched and handled. Hopper is one of her kits and has been handled from day one and loves to snuggle but he can get persnikity if he doesn't get his way. They don't smell unless you don't clean thier cage regularly. They do need play time outside the cage everyday.

The down side is that they can have malocclusion, siezures, or other medical issues so make sure you are buying from a reputable place. You need to chin proof the area they play in. The love to chew and they always poo everywhere. But mine don't pee any place but thier cage. They also need dust baths regularly and the dust can get allover.

Please check http://www.chins-n-quills.com/forums/. for more information.
I have a friend who had one. Really, it's just like a hapster. It stays in it's cage and just chills, or you can take it out and let it run around the house (but then you have to find it.) They liked it a lot, very easy to care for. I haven't heard of being able to train them, like I said, they are like a hampster..
they are great to look at but are very timid. and dont like to be held. they are very soft but they love to jump and if you cought there tail they can fall off. really. go with a ferret. they are much better and can be taught trick like fetch and play dead. they are alot of fun, yes they have shaep teeth but they dont really bite. i love my 18 ferrets.

Chinchilla noises.?

Sometimes my chinchilla (Foofy) makes noises like hes hacking up something.. kinda like a screechy noise. is it just a hair ball or something? Or is he sick?
Also he lets me pet him. Does you chinchilla let you pet him? He's so cute! And the best thing is that we are both nocturnal :)
Heres a pic of him..

I have 3 chinchillas and the noise you are hearing is quite normal.

Its sounds like their warning call - which is nothing to worry about - a chinchillas' hearing is far better than ours and they can hear things that you cant.

As said it sounds perfectly normal

take a look at www.chinchillas-unlimited.co.u.

they have some very experienced chinchilla owners and are always there for friendly advice

Many chinchillas will let you pet them, they love tickles
Go to a group website called BARKERSNOOK on msn they have all the answers and trhey share experiances
get him a friend they like there own kind
That is because he is happy and noises like that usually come when they are at play, they love attention and the more time you spend with them prevent them from being bored they are very curious creatures so you have to make sure to supervise them when out of their cage so they do not get into trouble ..
i used to kept them they like company get him a girlfriend they also like sultanas mine were mad they used to eat all my wires and run up my walls they like to be brushed aswell i think they are rabbits crossed with rats lololol good luck

CHINCHILLA HELp?

my chinchilla's fur is kinda wierd like scruffy on 1 side. i know you arent suppossed to let it get wet but im not sure what happened to it.. either water or what im thinking is there were shades on the ground (windowshades) and the oils from that got on him.. what should i do to help him so he does not get sick. he has been like that for atleast an hour maybe too im not sure. he is dry not but im still afraid he will get sick HELP PLEASE
Answers:
No you are not supposed to get it's fur wet, bathe it etc. It'll be fine just get some Chilnchilla sand at the petstore. That is what they use to "bathe" themselves. It scrubs and gets the oils. And don't forget it will clean itself with it (don't try to help it). Just put some in a big flat tupperware or something.
First of all, the fact you state he is dry is the most important thing and will prevent him from getting sick. Whatever you do, do not put water on his coat because he will have difficulty getting dry and that can cause illness.

Do you have a chinchilla bath for your chin? If you do, then just put fresh chinchilla dust in the bath and let him go in it at his leisure and roll around. If you do not, then go to a pet store and buy a chinchilla bath and dust (or get the dust and put it in a nice sized metal bowl or pan), then pour an inch thick layer in the bath and place this inside his crate/cage. He will roll around in it on his own and this will help clean his coat and unscruff his fur.

Also, if your chin lets you handle him, then you can take a very soft bristled brush and gently brush his coat going with the grain of his hair.

Chinchilla fur or Teddy Bear Hamster fur?

Which is softer, I want a pet with soft fur.
Answers:
Chinchilla's have MUCH softer fur, BUT a hamster can have soft fur, as well, and is much cheaper to get going.

I have chinchilla sand (not dust) in each of my hamster cages. They roll in it, and it cleans them very quickly. I can't believe the difference in their fur after they started using that. My dwarves are really soft after a roll in the sand.
teddy bear hamster is my guess ;3
chinchilla fur, like lloyd banks in the busta rhymes video
cinchilla,im sure
Chinchilla fur. I hear that you can't even wet them because their fur will fall off.
Chinchilla fur probably. Look it up on google or ask jeeves.

chin needs help?

my chin got bite by another chinchilla so i started puting neosporin on him thn his hair started falling out around the wound then i gave him a bath in water so i can see if he had any more cuts or scraps their was none but his hair started falling out what should i do
Answers:
Washing him with water is the worst possible thing you could have done. It's natural for them to lose hair around wounds, you should have left it alone.
Sorry, it's done now, but in the future, even hurt chinchillas only get dust baths. Do not get them wet!
For now, keep him warm and wait until the fur grows back. It wil take a little while, keep him out of drafts.
Look here for info on chinchillas.
www.chinnet.com

EDIT
NEVER use people medicine on animal without asking a vet. Never!
Chinchillas are so funny looking.
call a vet
I am allergic to triple antibiotic. neosporin. Maybe your chinchilla is also. The allergy system sometimes is all that is needed to prevent infection.
Try paste of haldi+besan+milk cream
Chins should never get wet. This can cause skin fungus and hair loss.. Please check with the vet as soon as you can as it may only get worse and could possible transfer to the other chinchilla.
First you dont give a rocent neosporin. second you dont put them in the water they can get wet tail diseas. and second i love chinchillas dont let it happen again!!

chilean rose eggsac?

my chilean rose (shirley) has produced an eggsac and ive taken it away from her and put it in a container with vermiculite as a substrate. ive heard that when you take the eggsac away from her you are ment to roll the eggsac around for some strange reason, could anyone tell me this reason and how often i should do this?
Answers:
I've never heard of doing that before! I own tarantulas myself and I've also written a book on keeping tarantulas as pets and I've never, ever heard of that method. I think I'd be considering the source of your information? If you're refering to rotation of the eggsac during it's incubation period, it's to make sure it gets an even amount of warmth and also gives you the opportunity to make sure the sac is doing well and still in tact but while doing that, you need to be sure to be very careful and not apply too much pressure to the sac. You don't want to hurt your babies! If you'd like some more information, I'd go to the site botarby8s.com and email the breeder, Charles Black and ask him about anything you want to know. He's been doing this for many, many, many years and can give you some great advice. Congrats on your eggsac and soon to be spiderlings! Good luck to you.

are they a spider, no i have never heard of this before sorry i am not much help to you dear

Chicken with a rocket launcher, duck with a rotary cannon.Who will win?

Assuming the chicken is a Rhode Island Red, and the duck is a Muscovy. And each has three years in the special forces.
Answers:
are they still trying to get to the other side of the road?
The cook wins. Both birds will have been defeathered and will be well-done.
It's all a question of opposable thumbs ;o)
I'd have to agree with first guy, as the cook has opposable thumbs with which to operate his butcher knife,whereas, special forces training or not, neither bird is said to possess these necessary appendages. =}
The duck would win. He would have his mates shouting his name every time the chicken fired off a rocket and he would. ahem. "duck" out of the way.

Oh God, I am so sorry.

chicken laws in city of manitoc wi.?

how many chickens can you have in manitowoc wi
Answers:
Generally, chickens are allowed in all cities with a few restrictions:

They must be kept confined to your property in a coop or in cages.

They must not be so noisy as to disturb neighbors.

They must be kept odor-free.

You cannot put a sign in front of your house offering fresh eggs for sale - that just turned your house into a commercial operation - and there are laws regarding that in a residential area.

Call you local city hall and ask to see a list of the city ordinances. If chickens is not specifically listed, they they are allowed.

Allows be considerate of your neighbors be responsible about keeping chickens.
i have no earthly idea
I can't find any definate answers, but most cities don't allow you to farm. I would doubt that you could have more than a couple pet chickens inside the city (as most cities don't have laws against pet fowl).

You might want to ask your local SPCA, which appears to be:

chicken feed question?

our grain elavator was closed %26 i could not get feed. i can get some tomorrow morning. what can i feed them in the mean time?
(never experienced this before)
Answers:
Chicken will eat almost anything so if you have any kitchen waste food give them that. If you mow the lawn and you have the clipping which are untreated with any pesticides or fertilisers this will feed then also. Best of luck.
Give them some mowed grass
I only have two chickens. When I run out of grain I give them bread. They really like it alot.
Got some tomatoes around? They love it. Look in your yard.. See any dandelions, flowers, marigolds?

Did you cook already? they'll eat rice, and leftovers

Best yet. Can you dig in your soil and get worms and bugs?
You can take unused flour and mix in water and maybe an egg or two cook as you would a pancake, cool and serve to eager chicks. Let them out to the yard and they will go back when it is time to roost. They love to sratch up grass hoppers and will follow when you mow the lawn and catch the hoppers.
They will eat anything..leftovers are good, but if you don't have any they will definitely eat bread, lettuce, tomatoes, crackers, cereal, rice and corn. They will even eat plain boiled spaghetti, I think they think it is worms!!
My chickens even love french fries, they come running when they know I have some!
They'll be happy in the meantime just pecking around the yard. If you're really concerned, give them vegetarian scraps from the kitchen. They love it. My chickens fight over corn and other vegetables. The rooster usually ends up eating all the bread I give them. Potato peels after you peel them for mashed potatoes are always good. They love apple peels too!
pop corn oat meal bread cracker turn them out and let them find their own food
go to the feed store they have chicken feed theres all kinds crack corn egg crumbs pellets mash just go to the feed store and ask them they carry alot of the food for chickens and things i use pellets for my chicken they do good with it too..allways keep sum upstairs and downstairs just in case i keep mine downstairs

Chicken with 4 legs?

I just read this story.apparently its true. They show a picture. Im curious what You folks think.Seriously, is it possible?

http://www.usatoday.com/news/offbeat/200.
Answers:
True.
Indeed I have seen it for myself.
In addition Our local newspaper "The Robesonian"
Robeson county, North Carolina carried both picture and story
about this.
I know the farmer and seen chicken several times. It lived about two years.
Even odder-The farmer still owns and drives a pea green "gremlin"

Now thats a car you don't hear or see much of anymore.
LOL
Not only possible, but think of the marketing potential. Drumsticks for everyone!
More drumsticks. Great for KFC.
Yes. There is a guy who is "collecting" freaky animals. Mostly 2-headed.
yes it true how ? TOO bad it doesnt work, or it would have been a contender for the fastest chicken.
Looks like it could be real, just look how many conjoined twins in the human and animal world there are! Just think about all the chemicals we injest. Not to mention all the inbreeding that goes on on the farm. I just wonder why it took them 18months to find him..
Quite possible I'm sure. Though it's also possible to fake photo's like that. If it drags two legs behind it - you would expect sores on the feet. However, I'd put that more down to the writing being slightly wrong, than the photo being fake. My bet is that it's true. You do get both people and animals with extra limbs.
Yeah it is possible and I have seen the same picture and it was verified as real. Just like people can be born conjoined, I see no reason why what should have been two chickens instead came out as one with four legs
I guess so
Ha Ha I seen that also

women should know that thousands of innocent foals are slaughtered every year because of a drug for menopause called PREMARIN -pregnant mares are kept in stalls 23 hours a day while their urine is collected - pregnant mare urine produces a hormone used in this drug
these are called PMU barns (PMU- pregnant mare urine) the problem is that thousands of foals are considered "by-Products" and are killed

if you know of anyone who uses this drug - let them know there are better alternatives and to talk to their doctors about switching

people who keep exotic big cats (lions, etc) often feed them horse meat so we should discourage this kind of animal being kept for pets.. big cats dont want to be pets anyhow
Couldn't find it
OMG I knew that it was going on but until you actually see pics it does not register. I understand about the food chain people slaughter cows and pigs chickens and deer ect. for food but horse meet is not something that people can buy legally so there for they should not be able to slaughter them. I personally dont eat meat so I say ban all animal slaughtering but then we would become so overwhelmed with wildlife that it would cause a lot of accidents. so I contradict myself all the time. I know that it needs to be done but I dont have to like it.
Are you prepared to take on the financial burden of crippled and dangerous horses,,,, ?
i agree with the answer above. it's true.

cheapest breeds of pedigree dog and cat in the uk?

and how much do they cost?
Answers:
think the cheapest place to get em would be cat and dog homes
All pedigree dogs have breed specific rescue societies. They only require a donation, rather than a huge price tag, and very worthwhile to support the rescue organisation.
Go to your local shelter to adopt. Save a life!
It depends on lots of things especially rarity!

The cheapest way - Pick your favourite breed, Make sure it's one you can handle, then find your nearest Breed or Rescue Centre and adopt one. Most have a set donation so phone first and ask as it varies! Most will be Neutered. If not you may have to sign a promise to do it before they will let you have one so that will add to the cost but still a lot less than a breeder.

With a Cat there isn't any advantage in a Pedigree and the nearest Shelter will have plenty to chose from so pay a visit.

Save a Life!
different breeds cost different amounts in different parts of the country. Where I live, a border collie pup will cost around 拢400, but over towards the western side of the country, they are around 拢150. GSD can cost anything from 拢150-拢600. Your question wasn't a very sensible one because the cost depends on the breed, the popularity or rarity where you live, whether the parents have had all the health tests or whether it is just a back yard breeder who doesn't bother, whether they are KC registered or not and sometimes even the colour of the particular pups within the breed will make a difference, some colours being more rare are more expensive. For instance, in Cavalier king charles spaniels, ruby or black and tan seem to be more expensive that the more common blenheim or tri coloured. In siamese cats, red torti are more expensive than seal point.
There is no one answer to your question.
We got our pedigree persian colourpoint cat from the RSPCA shelter. Occasionally they will get pedigree animals, but will not normally have the pedigree documents.

I think all rescue cats and dogs should be given homes first, they sometimes struggle with a poor life and deserve a good home. Don't get hung up on a pedigree - go and look at some rescue ones. Also, non-pedigrees are often more robust, live longer and have fewer illnesses and genetic conditions.

Two of the prettiest and most loving of the many cats I have had were common moggies!

Cheap ideas for my three ferrets to be entertained?

I have tried dryer exhaust hose, that they like to run through. Also, I have tried shredded paper in a box that they like to burrow in. Any other ideas? Thanks!
Answers:
Crocheted eggs(plastic easter eggs), large bowl of water, empty can with marbles in it.
Different ferrets like different things, some are even nervous around loud noises.
One of mine likes beanie babies, the other likes empty chips bags that crinkle.
Go to a home improvement store and look for the concrete form section. They have large card board tubes that are commonly used to pour concrete posts, which are cheap and very entertaining.
Card board boxes, like shoe boxes with different size holes in them, stacked on top of each other work. Socks with toys or treats inside them are fun.
You can freeze a piece of their favorite treat in an ice tray with water or water mixed with ferretone. Put the ice cube in a large frisbee like dish and watch them chase it around.
An old pair of jeans or PJ bottoms for crawling through is always fun. Make a digging box out of rice or bio-degradable packing peanuts(the kind that dissolves in water, the others are dangerous).
We have "Magic towel rides", where I pull a large beach towel along the floor in front of them. They will eventually all jump on and hang on for dear life. I keep pulling them until they all tumble off or climb up to my hands.
Here's a site that has more fun and games on it, enjoy:
http://www.extremeweezils.com/fertfun.ht.
Give them plenty of new things to smell, even if they seem weird, like an empty pizza box, an old shoe, things like that.
You can also freeze some turkey or chicken baby food in cubes and let them have at it.
One of mine loves it when I drop treats into a big ceramic bowl full of water so he can go snorkling for it. It took him a minute to figure out they were in there, but now he dives into any water he comes across, just in case, lol. He's funny.
buy them a rabbit
paper grocery bags
If you could find a black snake or something similar they would have a blast with it. You may want to use a non-venomous snake to start until they hone their skills. Then any snake will do. I never let mine go for the non-venomous snakes, but, when I seen a Copperhead in the yard.. it was play time! :-D
a ball of yarn or a plastic lizard. cheap cheap cheap.
You could make a maze out of PVC piping (very cheap) and they can play in that. A ball of Aluminum foil (if they start to eat it - take it away).
Get a kiddie pool and fill with sand
mine used to love chasing things so cat toys on string are good or even those piano wire toys. They love rubber balls but I wouldn't suggest it because at some point in time one will get part of the rubber ball lodged in its GIT and require surgery to remove it. Mind you those balls in runner tracts (for cats are good value). Other than that, I wired dryer hose all through my house, had tons of paper bags on the floor and several hard plastic balls kicking around the place.not to mention the squeeky toys (but take them away when they start to destroy them).
They really do make great pets!
paper towel tubes, tennis ball, cheap laser pointer, cardboard box with holes in it. the list could go on they are very easily entertained.
Put a laundry basket over them and watch them try to get out! Its hilarious! Oh I am sorry that would be entertaining to you not them! LOL,

Ferrets are naturally in to everything! To be honest, I think you could give them anything and they would be happy. Buy them some balls to chase around or get some string and hang it up so that it just dangles to the floor. But, no matter what you get them, you will always be their number one play "thing". They love to chase human hands and feet.

Good Luck and Take Care

Characteristics of uncastrated rabbit?

Hello,

My rabbit is a year old and has never been castrated. I keep reading articles about male rabbits that are uncastrated always trying to mount things etc..I have never seen my bunny do this! Obviously thats not a bad thing but I was wondering if I should be worried that something is wrong with my bunny? Are there actually specific characteristics of uncastrated rabbits? (He is a house rabbit and lives with 4 other people, no other animals)
Answers:
I had one some years ago and he showed no signs of strange behaviour. He was in the house a lot and was house trained so no marking territory or anything like that. Yours sounds fine and as long as he's healthy stop worrying.
My unneutered rabbit mounts things, including nearby humans, at every opportunity. He will also spray urine, which has made him very unpopular on occasion! This behaviour started in middle age however; you may not notice any odd behaviour until they are 4 or 5 years old.
Wow - you're lucky.

My buck is going in for his neuter tomorrow. I didn't ever plan to do it and I didn't want to, and I do feel pretty guilty for him. But he is very sexually frustrated (so I guess I'm doing him a favour in that way), he's always trying to mount me. I guess because I am the one who feeds and cleans him I am the one he wants (doesn't go near any other family member). Maybe he is in love with me, lol!?

It is better for this health if you have them done.

cattlemen/women: will an electic fence hold in three Jersey steers?

we have and a jersey last year and really loved the meat- the only problem is that we did not know we were doing it again so we took down the fences and recycled them. will a thick electric fence hold them in? or do i need to have a regular fence with barbed wire?
electric fence like the horse ones, not the thin little wire ones
Answers:
yes it will work for them, we have 1 bull pen that has electric wire and it works fine, the first time the bulls got zapped, that was all it took and they never, i mean never go near it and they cried like big babies when they got it the first time.
Yes an electric fence should hold the steers. If they get a good jolt in the beginning, its likely that they will not get close to the fence a second time.
if you run two strands it should work fine
it is not the wire that you use it is the fence charger that you get look at a low impedance fencer and the higher the Joule rating the harder the shock will be and make shear that you have got a good ground to make every thing work right.
If they have never been fenced in with "Electric" before it can be tricky. If at all possible introduce them to area one at a time / one after an other. I would mark wires with strips of cloth or ribbon tied at a patterned interval. Make sure to add extra grounds if circumcise of penned area is extra large to insure proper "SHOCK" . After two to three weeks you can almost turn system off and will find it hard to herd them across existing fence line.

Cats, Dogs ,or other, which , and why?

Answers:
I have a pet rat named Zombie. I don't have to buy any food for her since she gets a lot of snacks and leftovers- she can eat anything.. She is quiet (never barks) I can bring her out when I have company that won't leave - she'll freak them out (I've heard a thousand times- "Eeew!! You have a pet RAT!?" then they flee and I am left alone with Zombie at last.) She runs around the house most of the day stashing food in different places so if I forget to feed her for a few days I know she's okay. She doesn't lay big, nasty piles of poop. She likes to play so she is entertaining. Lastly, she doesn't throw a big fit when it's time for her to go into her cage since she doen't make any noise.
cats because their playful and sweet and laid back
I like everything but dogs
2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 ferret, 1 hamster.
I totally love the blind devotion the dogs have. They would follow me to the edge of the earth. The cat gets along with my wife and tolerates the rest of the family. The ferret is there just to drive the cat nuts! My daughters hamster is crazy cute.
I like 'em all for different reasons. Cats tend to not be very affectionate, but they are sure fun to watch! Also they can take care of themselves if you go on a short vacation. Dogs obviously are more loving, but take much more time. Small animals are fun to, they can be affectionate if you work with them, but cage cleaning does take alot of time, but again if you go away on a short vacation they can take care of themselves. Fish are good for the same reason to. That's why I have 'em all, I couldn't choose! Why do you ask? Thinking of getting a pet?
Depends on the person and what they can give of themselves and what environment they can provide. I love all animals and can't say one is better than the other. At present I have three cats who I share my life with and we are looking for the right dog to enter our world.
Dogs-when well trained they can do so much, they are so smart, they learn fast, risk their life for you when you're in danger, man's best friend.
I have both, there very different and fun in there own way.
rats! they are soooooooooo under appreciated! but soooooooooo cuddly and smart!
Cat if you are the type of person who likes a pet who is independent.
Dog if you are the type of person who likes a pet who is dependent.

I love dogs #1 because I love their willingness to learn, play, loyalty, neediness, wet sloppy kisses, and unconditional love and acceptance of me.

I love cats #2 because they look good just hanging around, eat my food, like to be petted at their own convenience, are soft and cuddly.

But, Dogs rule!
Cats! Because they are easy to train, don't smell, are clean, and they don't eat the poop from dirty diapers!
Also, flying squirrels are good, for same reasons as cats, they stay adorable even as adults, and they tend to be a one owner pet.
Depends on how much time and effort you want to put into your pet. Dogs are great and very loyal, but they require alot of attention and care. They need to be played with, exercised, given food and water and given at least some vet care. Cats also require attention, but are more independent and can be kept with considerably less effort. They still require regular food and water and vet care but do not need to be exercised or given as much attention as dogs and they can live in smaller homes. If those seem like too much work, you may want to consider an animal that can live in cage as they are generally easier to care for. Larger sized caged animals include ferrets, bunnies, guinea pigs, etc. Ferrets are actually very intelligent animals that require alot of play time and can be trouble makers (chewing, stealing/hiding things). Bunnies and guinea pigs look cute, but it is very important to pay attention to the temperment of these animals when picking one. Smaller animals tend to be fearful and skiddish. The cages keep these animals and therefore their messes contained but they do still require care and cleaning. I hope this helps. On a personal note, I love and would totally choose a dog, but I know from experience, they are alot of work!
1 dog, 2 cats, 7 hermit crabs and a tank full of fish. The dog, cuz I needed a walking buddy
the cats 1 was a gift and the other rescued from the shelter I worked at.
the hermit crabs, after watching sharktale 100's of times with my kids thought they'd be fun!
the fish my 3 yr old is obbsessed with the fishes.

I love animals and there for have animals! I can never live in a pet free home!
Ferrets!!
I have 2 any they are so funny to play with and watch play.
They are very energetic and lovable.
My 2 and a half year old daughter really loves them because they are just small enough but not too delicate for her to play with..
Plus they are not mean.
The only downfall is they are thiefs and they like to steal jewelry and other shiney things and hide them. but they do usually always hide the stuff they steal in the same spot.
cats, because the are so loveable and very fun to play with.they are like a member of the family. to me

Cats or Dogs?..?

Which one are HOTTER?
Answers:
MRHR.and Me!
cats are the coolest!
depends on wat u prefer. If you prefer alot of runny and training choose dog if u want something nice and confy to be with you then cat.
Uh.hotter? Odd way of asking that. But if you mean which ones make nicer pets (which is basically an opinion, but it shouldn't be.), I would have to say dogs. Why?
-You can take them places with you.
-They listen more
-They give you a sence of 'acomplishment' if you train them
-They are more loving, and look to you as an owner. Cats think of people as equals (or lessers.if you ask me)
-They are smarter

I just think dogs make much better pets. But if you don't have enough time or money for a dog, by all means get a cat. They are easier, but not as good!
Neither. Rabbits are better.
Rabbits are smarter than any stupid dog or idiotic cat.
Dogs
